Vodafone and Idea merged and became VI “Real Truth”

On 31 August 2018 exactly 2 years ago two different companies Vodafone and Idea merged and became Vodafone Idea Limited. And after two years means now in 2020 they integrated and rebrand or changed their name as Vi(pronounce it as We).

Vodafone and Idea are joined and become Vi

This announcement was made by Ravinder Takkar, MD & CEO, Vodafone Idea. “In less than two years’ time we have achieved the mammoth task of the world’s largest integration. As the integration of the two brands is complete, its time for a fresh start,” said Ravinder Takkar during the live webcast of the announcement on September 7, Monday.

“Vodafone and Idea came together as a merged entity two years ago. We have, since then focused on integrating two large networks, our people and processes. And today I am delighted to present Vi, a brand that will bring important meaning to the lives of our customers. Indians are optimistic and want to get ahead in life. They would love the best partner to help them on this journey. Vi’s positioning is built around this promise and will focus on meeting the customer needs to help them thrive,” said Takkar.

Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of Aditya Birla Group & Vodafone Idea, on the launch of the new brand said, “India is the 2nd largest telecom market and the largest data consumer, globally. With 1.2 bn Indians accessing voice and data services at the world’s lowest tariffs across 5 lakh villages, the ubiquitous wireless network in India is unmatched for its reach and impact in people’s lives. With our new brand – Vi, we stand committed to partner the Government to accelerate India’s progression towards a digital economy, enabling millions of citizens to connect to the digital revolution and build a better tomorrow.”

Vi has introduced a new work from home plan priced at ₹351. The ₹351 plan provides the user with 56 days of validity and 100GB of total data. The previous plan launched by the company is currently live on the website and is priced at ₹251. The user gets 50 GB of data with a validity of 28 days.

For users that need even lesser data, the company is providing a ₹48 plan that comes with a validity of 28 days and 3GB of data. The smallest data add-on pack is priced at ₹16 and it provides 1GB of data for a total period of 24 hours.

What is the truth and why this integration actually happened?

Actually last year Supreme Court announced due AGR(a share of which is paid as licence and spectrum fee to the exchequer) of Telecom Companies from many years and telecom companies have to pay this AGR(Adjusted Gross Revenue) to continue their services in India and amount of AGR on Vodafone and Idea is bigger than any other telecom companies like Jio and Airtel.

Vodafone and Idea Limited faced outstanding AGR dues of about ₹50,000 crore. And Fund-raising in competitive Indian telecom market is very difficult for third largest operator. So they have to merged to increase the funds and gain more users so they can pay their AGR.

Vodafone Idea board on Friday had approved a plan to raise up to ₹25,000 crores through a combination of equity and debt instruments. The decision came days after the Supreme Court directed telecom operators to pay 10% of total adjusted gross revenue (AGR)-related dues this year, and the rest of the payments in 10 installments in 10 years but Vodafone and Idea Limited wanted 15 years but SC refused.

Vodafone and Idea loss ₹25,460 crore for the June quarter after making additional provisions to pay past statutory dues.

Personol Expirence:

I am a very old user of Idea and Vodafone but I have faced a lot of issues when I was a user of Idea and Vodafone. The service of Vodafone and Idea in every region of India is very poor compared to other telecom companies like Jio and Airtel. And after November 2019 Vodafone and Idea slowed down their Internet service to increase their revenue.

I live in Mumbai Suburban and I have experienced a lot of network issues and after that issue, I complained about this issue to their customer service totally 6 times for many weeks but they didn’t solve this problem and in the end, I have to change my telecom service😂.

You will not believe that I have registered a 2GB plan for two months and I can’t able to use 300 MB also😡. So I request to Vi to please increase their services and please don’t pass only big statements do something to increase your Internet and call services.

If you like my work please support me by sharing this post to your friends, family and loved ones
