Mumbai- Due to heavy rain on Tuesday night Mumbai is facing Waterlogging in many areas. Several streets and low lying areas were waterlogged and due to this authorities of Mumbai has taken the decision to shut down essential services.

Authorities in Mumbai have asked offices to close wherever possible and suspended rail services after India’s financial hub saw its wettest September day in three years.

The city is already operating at partial capacity due to coronavirus-related restrictions. Train services, currently operational only for some essential workers like health care, food distribution or banking, were halted in certain parts after tracks got flooded.

Mumbai has received about 29 centimeters of rains over the past 24 hours through Wednesday morning according to the government. The weather report predicts moderate-to-heavy rain to continue throughout the day.

“Mumbaikars are requested not to venture out of their homes,” the city’s municipality said in a statement. Municipal commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal asked all offices and establishments in the city, barring essential services, to be shut.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued an orange alert with a forecast of heavy rainfall at at some places in Mumbai and Thane during the day.

Due to flood, Suburban rail, Western rail and Central railway was shut and Mumbai’s Nair Hospital was flooded and sad thing is it is a COVID-19 dedicated hospital.

The Bombay High Court today suspended its hearings scheduled for the day, including all virtual hearings.The bail pleas filed by actress Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty were to be heard today by a single bench of Justice Sarang Kotwal through video-conferencing.
